Global Outreach
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is working on expanding its community service efforts to our global community.
Currently, Dr. Nahida Chakhtoura is one of the founding members of International Cervical Cancer (InCCa) Foundation, which provides pre-cancer screening and education to women in Peru who cannot afford treatment.
Recently, Dr. Mary Jo O’Sullivan provided leadership in an OB unit in Kabul, Afghanistan and Dr. Leo Twiggs regularly participates in Project MediShare programs in Haiti. Additionally, physicians and staff have volunteered in Guatemala.
The Department is eager to expand its good will to the international community and will continue to encourage faculty and staff to join in this effort.
